Joy In Our Country Home

In March, we flew to Oregon to meet my husband’s family for the first time. It was all very exciting and they are lovely people.  We feel blessed to have them in our lives now.  We also had the opportunity to reunite with my brother, sister-in-law, their kids, and many cousins and a few aunts and uncle on my Dad’s side. I hadn’t seen one of the aunts in probably over 20 years. To say that we spent March celebrating family would be putting it mildly. It was all a very wonderful experience.

We continued celebrating family in May here at home. Just two weekends ago, we had the pleasure of hosting one of my cousins and her daughter in our home.  They were in town for both business and pleasure. It was only the second time since we moved here that we had hosted anyone for more than a night and, it was as if they had always been here in our home. The Kentucky Derby and Cinco de Mayo were that weekend also.  We had a wonderful time reminiscing and catching up on all of our lives. On that Saturday, we had a Kentucky Derby watch party. My sister drove up and we all got to do more reminiscing and catching up on memories we might have missed.

There is a hidden story in this blog.  When we first moved out here, we said we wanted everyone who came to visit, to come and fill our home with joy merely by their presence and for them to experience the peace and solitude we find here. Little did I know that less than a year later our wish and our hope would happen…..literally 🙂 My cousin told us in early March that they would be visiting and I invited her to stay with us. When she came in May, I felt like I was spending the weekend with someone I had been best friends with for years. Not only did she bring joy to our home but she IS JOY.  Her name happens to be Joy. It’s funny how things play out in life, isn’t it? It was a wonderful weekend. We enjoyed all the time we had together and we enjoyed finally getting to know her daughter too.  My hubby and I, my sister, and Joy and her daughter all had a wonderful time together on Sat. It is one of my happiest memories and I am so thankful to have had the time with all of them. Life is good on the patio and in the country ❤
