The Joy in Traditions….The Family Meatloaf Recipe

This is another story about finding joy in our everyday lives. I love traditions and finding the joys of life. Simple things, really, that brighten someone’s day and that keep traditions alive.

My son called a couple of days ago to ask for the family meatloaf recipe. He wanted to make it for his girlfriend.

I was at a loss on how to help him. Whenever I made the meatloaf, I would just throw all the ingredients in the bowl and mix it together, place it in the pan, and put it in the oven to cook. Everyone who ate it thought it tasted great. I told him just that and that I would look online and find a recipe that matched mine most closely.

We found the same recipe about the same time. Only this recipe also had the glaze on it.

Later on he messaged me a picture of his meatloaf. Right then, I realized I had been out shined. Wow, my meatloaf never looked like that. He had perfected it and added the glaze. But this wasn’t just any glaze, together they had tweaked the glaze recipe also and made it look amazing. They said it was the best meatloaf they had ever had.

I just love it when our kids outdo us either through their cooking, their talents, their writing or any other successes they have. It’s fun to watch them achieve things in life, make a positive impact in this world, and be really goodhearted people. So thankful for my children and the joy they bring to us❣️
